This sounds really interesting, Jordan. (Adam told me you are working on a cool history thing so I had to check it out. 😀) The tech speak is not my language 😂, but if I'm understanding the app right, it will help me find my next history read based on era/time period? If so that sounds super cool! Are you thinking about adding historical fiction into the mix at any point in the future?
Yup! Your understanding is correct. The immediate features here are mostly to scratch my own itch: I want to see how the history books I've read overlap in time. In comparing books, I hope to find events at the intersection of multiple books that I'm interested in, and HIstorio can recommend books on those events.
Historical fiction is definitely on the table! I've played with extracting events from historical fiction in my testing and it works pretty well.
For that matter, even fiction fiction is on the table; my dad asked if Historio could make a timeline of everything happening in Middle Earth across Tolkein's books. Seems harder, but the answer is probably yes?
Really interesting! The 'events at the intersection of multiple books' is fascinating. I really like to think about history this way and this would be such a helpful way to approach that. 😀📚
And hooray for the possibility of historical fiction AND fiction in general! Love that your dad is positing Middle Earth content!
This sounds really fascinating, Jordan! I, too, am a history nerd (or, just all-around nerd, really). When I taught World Literature to seniors, we created a timeline that showed when seminal world texts were written. Noting gaps and overlaps always led to good discussion. I can't wait to use your app when the time comes!
Thanks, Mandy! History nerds unite! The teacher angle is definitely interesting. When I looked around for an existing tool to scratch this itch, most of the timeline creation software seemed to be geared towards educators. I'm hoping this can be a fun way to explore history in the classroom (or maybe complete a homework assignment)

For sure! Both of my boys (middle schoolers) love history. They would have fun exploring history with a tool like this!
